A statement issued on Sunday, May 22, by the SIIC said, "Hakeem received on Sunday afternoon Kuwait's Ambassador discussing latest developments witnessed by the region and the horizons of developing and consolidating relations between Iraq and Kuwait.
It added, "Ambassador Moumin presented to Hakeem an explanation of Mubarak Port project, stressing Kuwait's keenness on not to harm Iraq's plans, its interests and sovereignty."
For his part, Hakeem asserted, "The historic relations between the two neighboring countries and keenness to preserve and consolidate them, stressing the necessity for all problems be worked out through specialized joint technical committees to prevent any dispute to harm mutual brotherly relations."
